The house in which Jules Verne lived in Amiens in 1882 and 1900, completely renovated in 2006 , is one of the finest writers’ houses open to the public in Europe. From the ground floor to the attic, the house evokes through 700 books and objects personality, inspiration and memories of Jules Verne. We find the authentic atmosphere of a mansion of Amiens with its furniture of the nineteenth century. On four floors , visitors can discover its history and that of its inhabitants, but also the history of the people born here in the imagination of a writer whose work is still read today on the planet. Place of memory , the house to the tower can dive into the intimacy and richness of the famous author of ” Extraordinary Voyages “.
Guided tours by costumed characters from the work and life of Jules Verne, family games around the novels of the writer Sunday , literary evenings and meetings with artists, poets and writers , shows counties , thematic conferences , House of Jules Verne in Amiens offers to enter, as well as in new parts of the house , with many doors in the literary life of our time.
The Centre International Jules Verne managed the House of Jules Verne in public service delegation from 1 March 2007 to 31 December 2010. Since then, the home of the writer is directly managed by the Libraries of Amiens Métropole .
